Six US-Russian Partnership Projects to Receive Linkage Grants

The US-Russia Civil Society Partnership Program (CSPP) announced that it will award Linkage Grants to six partnership projects. The US-Russia Civil Society Partnership Program (CSPP) was launched in 2011. The program is sponsored by the US Agency for International Development and implemented by Eurasia Foundation (USA) in partnership with the New Eurasia Foundation(Russia). The CSPP is the follow-on to the two US-Russia Civil Society Summits held in 2009 and 2010, during which Russian and US civil society organizations recognized the need for greater collaboration. The ultimate goal is to create sustainable mechanisms for the delivery of recommendations from citizens to policymakers, leading to greater cooperation and meaningful improvement in the lives of citizens.

Thomas Pickering to Receive 2012 Sarah Carey Award

WASHINGTON, DC – Eurasia Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of the first annual Sarah Carey Award – Ambassador Thomas R. Pickering. Ambassador Pickering is Vice Chairman of Hills & Company, a Career Ambassador at the U.S. Department of State and the former ambassador to the Russian Federation, India, Israel, El Salvador, Nigeria, Jordan and the United Nations. The 2012 Sarah Carey Award presentation will take place at Eurasia Foundation’s annual dinner, Tuesday, April 24, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.

Three Villages in China Open Community Libraries

In early December, Huzhu Rainbow Culture Center (Rainbow Center), with support from EF’s China Program, opened community reading rooms in three small villages in northwestern China. Each reading room contains more than 2,000 books that villagers may borrow free of charge.
