Disability Quarantine: A New Perspective

Think the past few months of social distancing and isolation have been challenging? Now imagine living your entire life in quarantine. This is the message being shared by many people with disabilities to raise awareness about the everyday challenges they face due to lack of appropriate resources. These struggles are compounded by the COVID-19 outbreak, which has disproportionately impacted people with disabilities. For example, the deaf and hard of hearing may struggle to stay up-to-date on COVID-19 developments without the use of sign language on TV broadcasts. EF programs are supporting people with disabilities to connect via online networks and mobilize around this and other issues, with the hope of producing a healthier society, lasting long beyond the pandemic.
