Salary Range: $55,000-$72,500 Salary is commensurate with experience. Starting salary within the range provided is based on the candidate’s relevant experience and skills for the role.

As a key member of EF’s Business Development Department, the Senior Business Development Associate supports the full proposal cycle, including donor and opportunity research, bid tracking and analysis, proposal design and writing, key personnel recruitment, and proposal packaging and submission. Additionally, the Senior Business Development Associate may be called upon to lead small proposals as opportunities emerge.

Duties

  • Support EF’s positioning and capture through contextual research, outreach to local and international potential partnerships, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Prepare proposal calendars; set up the proposal filing structure; track progress of technical and cost applications; maintain checklists and delivery schedule; support proposal formatting, design, graphics (e.g., tables, organizational charts) and final packaging.
  • Support the development of partner teaming agreements; liaise with partners on key proposal inputs and deliverables.
  • Support recruitment of key personnel and subject-matter experts, including development of scopes of work, letters of commitments, and process contracts.
  • Support analysis of new business opportunities and capture strategies; provide key research and analysis to support bid preparation and program design; support the Business Development team in expanding to new geographies, technical areas, and funding sources.
  • Maintain the proposal pipeline on Salesforce; regularly track donor websites for live and forecasted funding opportunities prepare and disseminate summaries on potential opportunities to business development, management, and relevant program staff.
  • Maintain and update the Proposal Archive and Past Performance Reference (PPR) Library; coordinate with BD team and programs staff to ensure PPRs are updated on a regular basis with high quality and relevant program information.
  • Maintain and update consultants’ database on Salesforce; track consultants’ pipeline and deliverables.
  • Support the development and implementation of the annual BD work plan; assist in streamlining, standardizing, and strengthening internal processes, systems, and operations.
  • Eventually lead small proposals and/or applications; manage full proposal process, including conducting capture, recruiting key personnel, coordinating kick-off and design meetings and color team reviews, proposal writing and editing, and developing cost proposals.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, International Studies, Political Science, Area Studies, or another relevant field required.

Qualifications/Experience

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in proposal development and program backstopping for U.S. Government-funded international development projects or other relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization;
  • Proven ability to multitask and work in team settings;
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing;
  • Curiosity and initiative to learn.
