U.S. Global Leadership Coalition

George Ingram is Senior Vice President for Public Policy at the Academy for Educational Development. His professional career has focused on international economics and development policy in Congress, the Executive Branch and the nonprofit sector.

Mr. Ingram chairs the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, a network of more than 400 companies and NGOs that advocate for greater resources for U.S. engagement in international affairs, and is a member of the board of its sister organization, the Center for U.S. Global Leadership. He also serves as co-chair of the Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network, an alliance of development organizations, think tanks and academics that advocate for modernizing U.S. foreign assistance programs and structures.

From 1973 to 1995, Mr. Ingram was a senior staff member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, responsible for international economic and development issues. From 1995 to1998, he served as Vice President of Citizens Democracy Corps, an NGO supporting business development in the Former Soviet Union and Eastern and Central Europe. From 1998 to 2000, he was Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Agency for International Development with primary responsibility for U.S. assistance programs in the Former Soviet Union. Mr. Ingram was also a founding director of Basic Education Coalition and Education Policy and Data Center. He currently serves on the boards of Eurasia Foundation, Dockery Farm Foundation and the Executive Council on Diplomacy.

Mr. Ingram holds a BA from the University of North Carolina, an MA from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
