Eurasia Partnership Foundation Creates Youth Activists in the South Caucasus
In Georgia, Eurasia Partnership Foundation's (EPF) YouthBank project encourages young people aged 16 to 25 to get involved in civic activism and volunteer in their communities. The YouthBank participants learn how to manage grant money and initiate and implement small scale projects in their local communities.

Sixteen year-old Mariam Mkhatvari is a member of the Batumi YouthBank. She says that the YouthBank has helped her to develop leadership and communication skills. She is enthusiastic and resolute--qualities she acquired through the YouthBank trainings. Moreover, Mariam is ready and willing to contribute to society, "I share my new knowledge about ways to solve the community's problems with everyone....neighbors, adults, my friends and relatives." Eurasia Partnership Foundation Engages Armenia's Civil Society in Anti-Corruption Activities
In Armenia, Eurasia Partnership Foundation's (EPF) Anti-Corruption program strives to increase the role of government authorities, civil society organizations and the media in the fight against corruption. EPF has held trainings for government representatives from the local, regional and national levels to strengthen their capacity to develop and implement anti-corruption and anti-discrimination policies. Furthermore, a National Anti-Corruption Network of government bodies, NGOs and media organizations has been convened to coordinate anti-corruption strategies between these three sectors. Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia Strengthens NGOs in Kazakhstan's Capital
In February, Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) organized the final training session for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as part of its Strengthening Civil Society in Astana program, which aims to create new and strengthen existing NGOs in Kazakhstan's capital. Throughout the course of the program from September 2008 to February 2009, EFCA held eight institutional training sessions for representatives of 40 organizations. Read more...

East Europe Foundation Establishes Senior Center in Kremenchuk, Ukraine
According to the Ukrainian state statistics agency, 21 percent of the country's population is older than 60. There are 300 senior citizens per every 1,000 people and each year this vulnerable populous grows. With age comes physical limitations and health problems, but many seniors note that the worst challenge they face is that of being alone. With a grant from East Europe Foundation (EEF) and funding from Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor, the Kremenchuk Community Development Foundation established a senior center in the Ukrainian town of Kremenchuk. Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia Promotes Entrepreneurship Among Women in Tajikistan's Khatlon Region
Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) works to promote income generation activities for women in Tajikistan's Khatlon region. Since February 2008, EFCA has trained more than 150 women in business management and culinary techniques in order to start their own businesses. For many of the women, the income gained through this project is the only source of income for their families. Read more...
