EPF Hosts Seminar on the Dynamics of Change in the South
Caucasus
In November, Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) and the Norwegian Institute for
International Affairs hosted a seminar in Oslo, Norway to discuss The Dynamics of Change in the South Caucasus: Armenia and
Azerbaijan.
At the forefront of the challenges facing both Armenia and Azerbaijan is the unresolved
conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. The cease-fire implemented in 1994 still holds, but there are few prospects for a comprehensive peace agreement.
During the time of this fragile cease-fire, much has changed for both Armenia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has become much more prosperous by opening
up
its Caspian resources to the world, particularly to Western markets. Armenia has also seen rapid economic growth, thanks to the large-scale export of
its workforce, assistance from a global Diaspora and a special relationship with Russia. Read more...

Hetq Investigative Journalists Increase Transparency of Local Government in Armenia
From October 2007 to September 2008, Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) in Armenia supported the Transparent Local Self-Governance project
implemented by the NGO Hetq Investigative Journalists. With financial assistance from the United Nations Democracy Endowment Fund (UNDEF) and
USAID, the aim of the project was to increase transparency of local governments in sixty communities in five regions of Armenia. Read

EF Moldova Trains Journalists on Fair and Balanced Election
Coverage In November, Eurasia Foundation's Moldova representative office held a training
seminar for approximately 30 journalists as part of its Coalition 2009 project to provide Moldovan voters with fair and balanced information
on the upcoming 2009 parliamentary elections. Supported by the British Embassy in Chisinau/UK Government Strategic Programme Fund, the Swedish
International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and USAID, the project seeks to train Moldovan journalists to report on elections accurately and

EFCA Promotes Basic Democratic Rights in Kyrgyzstan
With financial support from the European Commission's Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic and USAID, Eurasia
Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) is implementing a program to promote basic democratic rights in Kyrgyzstan. EFCA and its partner organization, the Ton Regional Municipal Resource Center, conducted trainings on voting for approximately 150 people
covering issues such as electoral rights and the importance of conscientious voting. Read more...
EPF Promotes Georgia's European Integration
On November 17, Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) participated in an open committee session of the European
Union Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia as part of the coalition of civil society organizations that monitor Georgia's
implementation
of the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) Action Plan (AP). The coalition presented the results of its 2008 monitoring activities, providing
recommendations to Parliament for increasing the country's compliance with the ENP AP commitments. Read more...

From November 16th to 26th, the New Eurasia Foundation (FNE) implemented a foreign internship program as part of its Community University
program designed to assist regional universities establish mutually beneficial relationships with their respective communities. Organized by the
International Leadership Institute in Bet Berl, Israel, the 10-day program examined international models in collaboration between universities and

EPF Works to Combat Youth Unemployment in Azerbaijan
Unemployment is one of the greatest challenges facing young people under the age of 35 in Azerbaijan. In order
to combat youth unemployment, Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF), in partnership with USAID and StatoilHydro, launched the Youth
Entrepreneurship Initiative in the fall of 2007. The aim of the one-year pilot project was to support innovative approaches by NGOs to develop

EEF Launches Program to Help Integrate Orphans into Society in
Ukraine
By the time most people turn 18, they are equipped with the skills necessary to find a job, shop for food and
buy clothing. However, as wards of the state, many orphans are cared for and put through school, but often lack the skills necessary to live on their
own after leaving the orphanage. To address this issue, the East Europe Foundation (EEF) and ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih held a roundtable on November 28

Georgia Youth Banks Announce First Grant Recipients
In Georgia, Eurasia Partnership Foundation's (EPF) Youth Bank program helps young people aged 16 to 25 address
social needs, participate as active citizens in their communities and develop professional skills through practical experience managing small pools
of
grant money, which are distributed to support small-scale youth-led development projects in their communities. In November, all four Youth Banks
