A strong and impassioned voice in the field of foreign affairs and democracy building has been silenced. The Board of Trustees and Staff of Eurasia Foundation mourn the passing of President Emeritus Charles William Maynes on June 2, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Bill’s intellectual passion for his work building vibrant, democratic societies in the Eurasia region was matched by his abundant warmth and humor. He had a unique ability to encourage people, build relationships, and exemplify an unwavering belief in the power of the nonprofit sector. With his death there is now a deep void that will be felt far beyond Eurasia Foundation.
We salute Bill and commit ourselves to building on his legacy to make real the better world to which he dedicated his life. His legacy of selflessness, courage and devotion will serve as an inspiration to all who knew him.
