Bridging the gap between modern capitalist societies and its own post-communist legacy, business education in Belarus can be particularly challenging for academics and students alike. EF’s partner, the New Eurasia Establishment (NEE), is a strong advocate for reassessing the approach to business education in Belarus and recently organized two events in Minsk to encourage dialog on this issue.
Educators and education policymakers gathered at NEE’s sixth international conference Contemporary Business Education in Belarus: Meeting the Challenges. Among the issues discussed at the conference was the overall need for better adoption of information technology. Participants emphasized the value of introducing distance learning and other computer-based methods into Belarus’ business education curriculum.
NEE’s second annual business forum, Belarus’ Innovative Economy: Challenges, Management Technologies and Effectiveness, brought together over 300 business leaders, education professionals and students. The Belarusian Minister of Education and the Deputy Minister of Economy, along with a number of other high-profile government representatives, were invited to speak at the event. International experts from Greece, Ukraine, Russia and Netherlands attended the forum, providing commentary on international business trends.
