Leadership Instructor for Online Social Entrepreneurship (OSE)

Summary

The Online Social Entrepreneurship (OSE) program of the Eurasia Foundation seeks a Persian-language Leadership Development Instructor. The instructor will be responsible for providing virtual training to a group of remote trainees. The course begins April 2012 and aims to increase leadership skills and confidence amongst potential young leaders, while creating a support network to share practice and experience.

By the end of the course students will be able to:

    - Identify and develop mission and vision statements;
    - Create a project examination through SWOT analysis;
    - Conduct resource planning and project planning;
    - Identify project future challenges and solutions.

EF seeks trainers that understand the issues and aspects of leadership development, particularly in an Iranian context, and can provide effective feedback to participants on their leadership challenges and development.

Location

Work can be performed remotely though telecommunication.

Duties

The Leadership Instructor will be responsible for the following:

Course Implementation (approximately 15-20 hrs/week)

  • Work with applicants in application forums and answer questions.
  • Review applications and select top 30 candidates.
  • Instruct distance learning students for seven weeks.
  • Interact with students on a daily and weekly basis proactively, helping students by providing advice and resources.
  • Review weekly course work, and provide comments and advice for revision.
  • Feed discussion questions in forums.
  • Act as a resource to guide students along and facilitate their learning.
  • Upload additional materials and introduce links to resources related to students’ questions/issues.
  • Respond to student questions within a 24 hour period.

Student Monitoring & Evaluation (approximately 10 hours)

  • Monitor student involvement in forums and social learning exercises, maintaining an excel file of student progress, support received and remaining needs.
  • Evaluate reason for drop-outs.
  • Evaluate the pre and post course exams in order to ascertain the knowledge gained of each student.
  • Provide a final evaluation report of student final projects, knowledge gained, course progression, overall engagement and forum participation and determine pass/fail status of each student.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s, preferably Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant field, including education, business, economics, management or area studies.

Experience

  • Familiarity and experience with leadership concepts, literature and training.
  • Experience with Iranian organizations and third sector culture and needs.
  • Demonstrated interest in social entrepreneurship and development.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to impart skills in teambuilding, personal development, organizational management, financial management and vision development.
  • Work or study experience in Iran.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent computer proficiency and ability to work with e-learning software, including Moodle.
  • Strong evaluative and analytic skills.
  • Creative teaching and educational techniques and problem solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and commitment to teaching.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Farsi required.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English a plus.
  • Ability to type in Farsi.
