The Civic Education program of the Eurasia Foundation seeks an expert for the five week long “Rule of Law” course. The expert will be responsible for developing the course curriculum in a manner that is practical, engaging and participatory. The objective of the course is to educate teachers about the basic tenets of equality, fairness, and due process to obtain solutions. The course will demonstrate the government’s role in obeying and enforcing the rule of law along with citizens’ role in maintaining the rule of law and demanding it from their government.
The course will provide practical examples of relying upon the legal system to resolve disputes between citizens and between citizens and their government. The course will also explore ways to build a respectful and rule of law oriented community. The course will emphasize the give and take of rule of law, including the role that citizens have to play to demand and maintain it. The “Rule of Law” course curriculum should provide lesson plans including games, activities, journals, reflection activities, teamwork and other experiential learning opportunities for children aged 13-15.
EF seeks individuals with experience and expertise in ‘training the trainers’ methodology. By the end of the course, teachers will be given guidance on teaching each topic and the learning goals associated with each activity.
