Terrence J. English, President of Sovlink Corporation, is a founding shareholder and Director of Baring Vostok Capital Partners, an asset management firm specializing managing private equity funds in the former Soviet Union. Since Baring Vostok’s founding in 1997 Mr. English has been a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Mr. English was on the Board of the First NIS Regional Fund from 1994 until 2001 and has served on supervisory councils of several companies in the former Soviet Union. In 1990, together with Russian colleagues, he founded Sovlink Corporation, the first Russian-American merchant bank. From 1976 until 1990, Mr. English held a variety of senior trading and management positions, first with Continental Grain and later with Philipps Brothers the commodity trading arm of Salomon Inc.
Mr. English is a member of the Supervisory Council of the Chernigov Family Fund, a non- profit charity in Russia which supports the dependents of service members killed in Chechnya. He also serves on the Board of the Mohonk Preserve, New York State’s largest member and visitor supported nature preserve dedicated to promoting an understanding of the environment and its role in our lives.
Mr. English earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 and a BA in Political Science from the University of Portland in 1968. He is a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army Special Forces from 1968 until 1974.
