Laurens Ayvazian

Director of Education, Leadership, and Exchange

Laurens Ayvazian brings more than 20 years of experience in international development work in eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Russia, and Central Asia. Most recently, he has been leading U.S. government-funded educational exchange programs, enhancing peer-to-peer collaboration among more than 200 U.S. and Russian NGOs and academic institutions. He oversaw the execution of four annual U.S.-Russia expert summits, bringing U.S. and Russian social experts together to address the most pressing needs of their communities, regions, and nations, and serving as catalytic networking opportunities for more than 300 U.S. and Russian sectoral leaders. Prior to joining Eurasia Foundation, he conducted rule of law and local governance assessments for USAID-funded activities in Georgia and Tajikistan. Mr. Ayvazian also served as Eurasia Foundations Caucasus regional director, awarding and overseeing more than 400 grants in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

Mr. Ayvazian holds a JD from Georgetown University and a bachelor's degree in Slavic Language and Literature/Russian Studies from Princeton University.
